Description
This series is an elementary course in 5 volumes that is tailored for foreign students coming to China to study in the various fields of science and technology. The whole set is comprised of five books, including Listening and Speaking (I、II), Reading Comprehension (I、II), and Listening Comprehension. The whole series has a vocabulary list of over 3,900 words as well as 136 commonly used grammar items and 20 functional items.
Listening and Speaking focuses on the common phrases, grammar structures, common functional-notional items and their expressions in the areas of science and technology. Through focused training in listening and speaking, the students will gradually build up their abilities to communicate effectively.
This series will equip students with the basics of technical and scientific Chinese and will prepare them to study science and engineering in China. An Elementary Course in Scientific Chinese and Introductory Chinese form a set. Those who come to China to study science and engineering should begin with the latter and then proceed to the former.
