The Peking University International Students Speech Contest has long been a highlight of the university’s International Culture Festival. In 2022 and 2023, the contest was held under the theme "International Youth in the Z Era," attracting over 100 participants from nearly 30 countries. The contestants, speaking from their personal experiences, offered profound insights on the role of their generation in the context of globalization, technological revolution, and social transformations.
International Youth in the Z Era brings together a selection of award-winning speeches from these two years. Using Chinese as a bridge of communication, the collection gathers voices of Generation Z from across the globe as they share their mission and responsibilities in an era defined by interconnectedness, technological innovation, and social change. From the rise of digital trends and the far-reaching impact of social media to the convergence and interaction of global cultures, each speech captures the aspirations, deep reflections, and uniquely "Chinese perspective" of today’s youth
