Description
Synchronological Chart of Chinese History is a book dedicated to all history lovers. The authors devoted three and a half years’ effort on this work. It presents the evolution of history creatively in the form of precise time coordinates and hand-painted chronology. It also enriches history by presenting more than 500 original Chinese-style illustrations in over 100,000 characters. From mythology to archaeology, from the starry sky of the Stone Age to fighting for the throne during the Xia and Shang dynasties, from the unification during the Qin and Han dynasties to the period of reformation in the late Qing Dynasty, there are not only the major events affecting the historical process, but also lesser known moments.
Compared with other genres, this book gives a panoramic historical picture, which helps establish a systematic and complete historical framework beyond the limitation of fragmented history. This, to some extent, meets the requirements of today’s view of history, which neither focuses on the rise and fall of one dynasty or one figure, nor judges heroes based on success or failure, but pays more attention to figures, social changes, and progressive thoughts in history. To this end, in addition to the political, military, and other major historic events, this book selects a wealth of materials covering social life, economy, science and technology, thinking, art, etc. throughout Chinese history. It portrays the ancient Chinese in a way that is more relatable to readers and brings history alive. This allows the reader to better understand China’s history with sympathy and approach it with joy.
