Contemporary Research in Modern Chinese is a periodic journal tailored to the international academic community involved in Chinese language research. It mainly publishes articles focusing on the analysis of modern Chinese, comparisons between Chinese and other languages, as well as the study of Chinese dialects. The journal also incorporates articles elaborating on how Chinese language was used from the Tang Dynasty until the Qing Dynasty. Articles are concise and well-organized with new ideas fully supported by evidence, with articles proposing innovative theoretical ideas commonly appearing. It is one of the most popular linguistic journals in Japan. In order to further facilitate academic exchange in Chinese language research, Sinolingua has introduced the Chinese version.
